Tim Walz

If elected, Harris’ VP choice could usher in the country’s first female Native American state governor—Lt. Governor Peggy Flanagan.

Tim Walz is a 60 year old white guy, governor of Minnesota. Grew up in Nebraska, married a Minnesota woman. Got a DUI in 1995, and claims to be sober since then. Nice reaction, that's what you're supposed to do if you're not an addict, and if you're an addict. He was a teacher. He coached his high school football team to a state championship in Nebraska. They moved to Mankato Minnesota where his wife is from. He was in the military and went to Congress. Then he became a governor. He's for legalization of pot. He's for gun freedom. Can't all be perfect, but maybe it will cool down those who are gun nuts.

Just read he taught a year in China, and his children were born through IVF.

I think we need a rigorously and aggressively sane person in government. We've had too much weirdness.

Now that the ticket is locked in, there's no excuse to vote ideology over America. Republicans have nothing to offer but a felon and a couch fucking flip flopper, who instead of seeing pride in his heritage, judges them.

I can imagine people are unwilling to admit they've been duped beyond belief, and that Russian troll farms are flooding social media with divisive hooey. Russian interference of the Trump v Clinton election makes Trump's presidency illegitimate. Every accusation from the Republicans is an admission of guilt. Trump knows he wasn't a legitimate president. We found out Don-old got 10 million from Egypt, in violation of election laws.

If republicans had any integrity, anyone who complained about Biden's age, would have to now maintain that standard for Don-old.

People are tired of business as usual in DC. You mean like having real leaders who are slightly boring, lead the country. They're not lurid click bait type leaders, they're real and substantial.

There's not enough time in the day to prosecute Orangina for everything he's done. To keep considering him for president is to not believe in democracy, and not believe in America. And what's we're watching is him spin out, his blarney on a social media that nobody goes to. Corrupt Musk let him back on Twitter, but I've blocked him so I only see stuff where people post a photo of his tweets, because if they just retweet him, he's blocked. I'm done thinking about him.

Democracy or democrazy?

Admittedly the choice between corrupt democrats and corrupt republicans isn't the political choice I want. I'd rather vote my way towards fairness, elimination of poverty, anti-trust laws that fight the consolidation of corporations (you read about grocery stores lately?), education, infrastructure. What you do get is a vote for democrats that vote to end rail strikes ( source ) because they can't carve out of the profits a sick leave, versus reality denying, Russian bought, obstructionists who might lower taxes, and want smaller government. The Ron Swanson's of the world who hate government and work in government. I've been running into people who believe the corrupt choices aren't worth even making. Reasons not to pay attention.I've thought that a few times in my life, but I don't think that now.  There are real choices about health care for women, and even just an attitude towards democracy. It's hard to fight past the rhetoric, and understand eve

Consent

You couldn't have a better title to a memoir in these times. You can read about Humbert Humbert, and other male narratives, but the female narrative of the statutory rape is fulfilled by this book. I feel slightly ill while reading this book. What she goes through is off, and it's hard to put a finger on it besides  Hebephilia . All the collaborating details from her mother, to her doctors, to her father. Vanessa Springora will be remembered for other things, she is a director and a publisher. I'm not sure if  Gabriel Matzneff will be remembered for other things. At least not on this side of the pond. I do have a kind of jealousy for the appreciation of the intellectual life in France.  Matzneff cites Lewis Carroll , and others as having the appreciation for youth. I read his Wikipedia page. That led to other questions about photographers who take pictures of their children. That led me down a creepy path. As much as Springora tries to not make it sexy, I wonder how many
