Les mal du pays

I'm reading Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki and His Years of Pilgrimage by Haruki Murakami, and as usual Murakami cites a classical music piece that gives the story a music tone. The larger piece is The Pilgrimage by Liszt. Franz Liszt was an Austro-Hungarian composer who wrote  Années de pèlerinage . The book mostly mentions Les mal du pays , homesickness. On Spotify Sinae Lee plays the music. There is a different version in the book, I didn't mark it down. She is from South Korea. She teaches in Scotland. It's really quite lovely piano music, I'm grateful for Murakami's reference to introduce it to me.  In the novel it is the Lazar Berman version , which is also on Spotify. At her friend Eri in Finland's place she listens to the Alfred Brendel version .
