Failed assassination attempt

Gift article from Times about event.

Every accusation is a confession by republicans. They're so uninsightful, unintegrated, and weird. So for republicans to accuse Biden of sending the assassin to shoot Trump, we know that the republicans are at least considering sending a Biden assassin.

“Georgia Representative Mike Collins posted simply, “Joe Biden sent the orders,” while Ohio Senator J.D. Vance, a top contender for Trump’s vice-presidential running mate, wrote on X that the Biden campaign’s rhetoric “led directly to President Trump’s attempted assassination.”

Texas Representative Ronny Jackson pointed to unnamed figures on the left whom he accused of being “directly responsible” for the events at Trump’s campaign rally.

Collins, Vance and Jackson did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Their posts on X altogether garnered more than 7.3 million views on Saturday evening, according to data from the social media platform.” Bloomberg

Supposedly the crowd turned and blamed the media for "doing this". If reporting the truth caused hatred to Trump to boil over, then gosh, why not be angry at the truth, or hey, even Trump for having these things be true about him. They don't like it that felony, rape, pedophilia and insurrection is frowned upon.

From my perspective the media has been way too kind to Trump. The Times has been an utter disappointment, I clicked to cancel my subscription, but they offered it up for cheap again, so I didn't ultimately cancel. Rich oligarchs just want tax breaks, and are willing to let America burn. Disgusting.

Trump bizarre pride at surviving an assassination attempt shows he's weird. I don't think I could dislike him more. That's a great photo, but I hate the man in the photo, so that ungreats it. Jerk survives assassination attempt is the title.

The hundreds of people who lost family because of Trump's inaction around Covid, and his misinformation, like a stupid kid who doesn't realize lives are at stake, are the beginning of a long list of problems with Trump that include fermenting an insurrection.

When he's out of the public limelight, maybe I'll study him more, but for now I just want him to go away. That's what he's taking pride in, the liberal tears he's caused, but they're not liberal tears, they're American tears. Trump is part of the reason why things are hyper partisan.

How does he lose his shoes? I don't think they're on tight enough. That's weird, how do you lose your shoes?

As with all the people who try to take down Trump, the shooter was republican (source). Colorado taking him off the ballot was republicans, and on and on. He generates enough hate in his party, he's that grimey.

Among the politicians I hate, Trump is near the top with Hitler, Stalin and King Leopold. He's much less murderous than those horrors, but he wishes he was as bad as them.

My hatred does not lead to violence. I don't have a gun. I have no intention of trying to kill Trump. I wish he would have retreated from public life and focused on the defense of the multiple court cases he has ongoing, and prepare himself for jail. His who campaign theme should be, "This is better than going to jail."

And like his weird failed insurrection, the failed assassination attempt is another weird episode in the curiouser and curiouser life of Donald Trump, felon, rapist, peodophile, insurrectionist, and global embarrassment.

The 20 year old conservative shooter was kicked off his high school gun club because he wasn't a good shot. What hit Trump as a glass shard probably, not a bullet. He was a registered republican, and his father bought him his assault rifle. In one video you can see a crane seem to be hit, and the speaker drop, possibly a ricochet.

The guns would be outlawed except the republicans block legislation. Trump has told parents of children killed with guns to get over it, and has suggested they assassinate Hillary Clinton.

I thought the attempt was fake for a little while, I imagined he put some ketchup on his ear and face, the pops sounded artificial, and him getting up and leaving was kind of staged. People question the professionalism of those secret service agents to allow him his grandstanding moment.

They said someone died, a few wounded, and the incompetent assassin was dead, but how do I know if a bunch of MAGA people are telling the truth? There was media there. Media isn't perfect but to throw the bath out seems foolish. Seems pretty real now, the longer the information kept being put out there, and the news reported it, it seemed less and less faked and more and more real. (Here is an article about that line of thinking)

Democracy or democrazy?

Admittedly the choice between corrupt democrats and corrupt republicans isn't the political choice I want. I'd rather vote my way towards fairness, elimination of poverty, anti-trust laws that fight the consolidation of corporations (you read about grocery stores lately?), education, infrastructure. What you do get is a vote for democrats that vote to end rail strikes ( source ) because they can't carve out of the profits a sick leave, versus reality denying, Russian bought, obstructionists who might lower taxes, and want smaller government. The Ron Swanson's of the world who hate government and work in government. I've been running into people who believe the corrupt choices aren't worth even making. Reasons not to pay attention.I've thought that a few times in my life, but I don't think that now.  There are real choices about health care for women, and even just an attitude towards democracy. It's hard to fight past the rhetoric, and understand eve

Consent

You couldn't have a better title to a memoir in these times. You can read about Humbert Humbert, and other male narratives, but the female narrative of the statutory rape is fulfilled by this book. I feel slightly ill while reading this book. What she goes through is off, and it's hard to put a finger on it besides  Hebephilia . All the collaborating details from her mother, to her doctors, to her father. Vanessa Springora will be remembered for other things, she is a director and a publisher. I'm not sure if  Gabriel Matzneff will be remembered for other things. At least not on this side of the pond. I do have a kind of jealousy for the appreciation of the intellectual life in France.  Matzneff cites Lewis Carroll , and others as having the appreciation for youth. I read his Wikipedia page. That led to other questions about photographers who take pictures of their children. That led me down a creepy path. As much as Springora tries to not make it sexy, I wonder how many
