I'm reading a novel set in the future in Nigeria, and thought I would travel to Lagos. I've been listening to some Nigerian music. I thought to travel to Africa, the birthplace of humanity.
Lagos is Portuguese for Lagoon.
Lagos is the second largest city in Africa. Kinshasa is the biggest, Cairo is the largest. Don't ask me the difference between biggest and largest. There is an island, and then the city has spread out as it has grown. Lagos Lagoon leads to the Atlantic Ocean. It overlooks southwards the Gulf of Guinea. Nigeria is bordered by the African countries of Benin, Niger, Chad and Cameroon.
The coldest month is August, but since it is near the equator the temperature does not vary as much. June is the rainy month, with January the driest month.
As a Knicks fan, I hate in a sporting way, Hakeem Olajuwon, who was born in Lagos.
Writers
Buchi Emecheta (1944-2017) "In 1960, she married Sylvester Onwordi,[5][7] a schoolboy to whom she had been engaged since she was 11 years old. Later that year, she gave birth to a daughter, and in 1961 their younger son was born." She had 5 children. Second Class Citizen (1974) chronicles the adversity she had. The Bride Price (1976) chronicles the marriage arrangements of those times in Lagos.
"In her 1984 autobiography, Head Above Water she wrote: "As for my survival for the past twenty years in England, from when I was a little over twenty, dragging four cold and dripping babies with me and pregnant with a fifth one—that is a miracle." She went on later to gain her PhD from the university in 1991."
Videos
Nightlife Video Fela's Shrine looks cool, supposedly the only place you can smoke weed. The beach clubs look cool. He has another video on what $10 buys you.
Here is a slick video promoting the city, seems to be seeking investors.
I watched a little TV from Nigeria.
The Disaffected Nigerian. He feels entertainment, the export of music, has fought the dystopian unrest. Nollywood has influenced Africa.
